Hours: Flexible Working Hours: 36.25 hours between the hours of 8am to 6pm.

Contract/Permanent: Permanent

Site Based/Office/Remote: Site/Remote Working (Hybrid)

Overview:

 

Are you a driven, technically sharp Control & Instrumentation Engineer looking for more autonomy and bigger challenges?  This is your chance to make a real impact in a highly regulated, high-reliability sector that fuels the UK’s infrastructure.

 

We’re looking for someone to take ownership of regional C&I systems-from design and upgrades to troubleshooting and performance enhancement-while helping shape engineering standards across an innovative and evolving business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead C&I modifications and support major upgrade projects
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system failures (PLC/SCADA/DCS)
  • Configure instrumentation and liaise with equipment vendors
  • Develop, review, and implement robust C&I design standards
  • Respond to system downtime with urgency and technical expertise
  • Guide teams across operations, maintenance, and project delivery
  • Engage with suppliers, contractors, and authorities
  • Contribute to technical reports, testing procedures, and data analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement and help shape future system strategy

 

Experience and Skills:

 

  • 5-10 years’ experience in C&I engineering, ideally in hazardous or process environments
  • A degree in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation Engineering (BSc/BEng) or equivalent
  • Proven experience with hazardous area equipment, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, and safety standards
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in control systems is a bonus
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and curious about emerging technologies
