Job Title: Control & Automation Technician
Location: Hartlepool (Steel Tubes department) (TS25)
Salary: £40,830 (Inclusive of shift allowance) rising to £47,435 upon demonstration of site specific competencies + quarterly bonus
Shifts: shift pattern of 12-hour days and nights (2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 days off)

Are you an experienced Control & Automation Technician with expertise in PLC systems, SCADA, and industrial instrumentation?
We’re looking for a skilled technician to join our Process Control team to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance automation and control systems critical to our manufacturing operations. What you will do:
- Diagnose and resolve faults in PLC, SCADA, and industrial control systems (Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley).
- Maintain and calibrate instrumentation, control loops, and variable speed drives.
- Support system upgrades and commissioning of automation equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational efficiency standards.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and operators to optimise performance and reliability.
What you will need:
As an Control & Automation Technician you will:
- HNC higher in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.
- Hold a time-served apprenticeship in a relevant field.
- Have hands-on experience with PLC programming and fault-finding (Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley).
- Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, Profibus, and Profinet networks.
Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic industrial environment is essential. Experience with process control systems in heavy industry or manufacturing would be an advantage.
